After graduating in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011, Laura has since gone on to become a professional working artist currently based in Windsor. Working for 4 years in the North West, she originally relocated 12 months ago to the south and has moved (just in time for Christmas!) again to a lovely studio in Eton Wick! Laura regularly visits The Fylde Coast, Yorkshire & Manchester for work and increasingly ships globally.
Continuing to develop her portrait process over the last 6 years she aims to create vibrant, statement portraits that bring a burst of colour into any interior. Laura chooses to keep exposed the bones of the painting in the finished work as well as occasionally sharing elements of progression through time lapse films on her YouTube channel. Unusually choosing to work with emulsions she explores the qualities and playfulness of paint, layering bold brush strokes, splatters and drips with flimsy linear marking, contrasted with focused pen work to add structure to the form. Imagery comes from sometimes multiple photographs and video footage that translate into layers of textured paint and pen, a style influenced from her interest in street art. Laura’s fluid method is still very much evolving and making mistakes is all very much part of the process!
